Migration of VM using "clone"

Hi

I want to use the "clone" method to migrate a VM from a ESX 2.x host to a esx 3.01 host. I know I need to place the esx2.x host to the VC 2.0, do I need to place the host under the same cluster? My esx 2.x host only does not have license for DRS and HA so I am worried that it may not be allowed to join the cluster.

Can I clone VMs to the ESX3.x cluster if my esx 2.x host is not under the same cluster??

Thanks.

Hello,

You can clone VMs from Host to Host in the same Data Center. The 2.5.3 host can not be placed into a VMware Cluster. But as long as the 2.5.3 host is in the same VC Data Center, then all is fine and your clone will work.

Best regards,

Edward
