Migration Error

Hi All.

I want to migrate VM from one host to another, but than I try to select new host for VM, I recieve error message (see attach).

All hosts recieve licenses from one license machine.

All host hardware are identical.

License type ESX Server Standart.

What is the problem?

Please Help.

quick solution ...

You need to edit VM (which is to be migrated) settings and change number of Virtual processors to 1 . Then try migrating the VM, migration should be successful.

I find the problem. It's mistake.

The same IP address of VMkernel Port on source and destination host.

IP addreses of VMkernel port on different esx hosts must be different.

Strange...!!!

Error thrown by VC was related to 'Number of Virtual CPUs' saying 'Host Software supports only 1 VCPU VM and currently VM has configured with 2 VCPUs'. I dont understand how the problem went away by confiuring the VMkernel with unique IP address (I know, its a must) .

Some others have had similar issues and the below seems to work for

them.

http://communities.vmware.com/thread/47087;jsessionid=39457F4E8F56574B66

76CBCB61D3BD30?tstart=0&start=25

1. go to the license server

2. in the license server app i click "Reload license

file" and stop/start the service

3. go into VC2 and select the ESX server

4. pull off the license so the server is

"unlicensed"

5. put the license back on

Hello :

The same problem occured to us. after researching a lot our solution was to reconfigure the HA Cluster and DRS removing the checkboks and aplying.

then we reconfigured the HA Cluster and finaly we were able vmotion again the machines.

It only happened to 2CPU virtual machines.

Regards

That's not good idea to uncheck DRS, because this will destroy any resource pools in my Production cluster.

Every 5 minutes very interesting thnigs occur in my cluster hosts ...see attach.

Any ideas?
