Migrating Virtual Center to a new server

Hello,

I have a Virtual Center environment with a License Server installed on a work station running Windows XP and I would like to migrate it to a new Windows 2003 server that I've prepared.

Can anyone tell me what is the high level process? Are there any issues I should be looking for?

Best practices?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Guy

I havent done this but I would think that the first step would be to rebuild the VCenter and License servers from scratch on the 2003 box. Then depending on your DB software move the database over to the new server and point your new VC to it. Add the license file to your license server. I am not sure if you will need to remove (disconnect) the ESX hosts from the old VC and add them to the new one or if it will just pick them back up since the database is the same. But I would think that you would need to disconnect and the readd them to the new VC. But all of your HA DRS and resource pol info and config would move over. Have you looked at the install configure and upgrade guide?
