Migrate datacenters from one VC to another.

I'm looking at migrating several datacenters with multiple hypervisors from one virtual center to another.  Unfortunately whenever I have done this in the past all performance data is lost resulting in no historical analysis information.

Is there a way to migrate the data with the moving of the hyps from one DC to another?  I would prefer not to have to edit database files but if that is the only way, so be it.

Thanks!

Hi

I don't believe this is possible, and I have not seen anyone achieving this before.

You will have to migrate your database to the new vCenter if you want to keep performance, historical data.

If you are splitting the load between 2 vCenters, here is what you could do.

And this is just thinking out loud Smiley Wink

What you could do is copy the existing database to use with the the new vCenter and start it up without network.

Then you remove all the Datacenters that you don't want to migrate on the new vCenter

Remove all the Datacenter you want to migrate from the old vCenter

Reboot the new vCenter with networking.

You might have to reconnect the hosts but all the info should be there.

Hope it helps

Please award points if it does Smiley Wink
