Managing ESX in vCenter

Hi,

I need to know the following:

  • Is it possible to manage the same ESX in two vCenter servers?
  • Can we manage ESX version 4 in a vCenter version 5? Is there a backward compatibility?

Thanks

Regards,

Naeema

Confirming. You can manage ESX(i) 4 with vCenter 5. A host can only be managed from one vCenter.

No its not possible to manage the same ESX or ESXi server in two separate vCenters as a agent is installed from the vCenter and is used for controlling the host.

Yes there is backwards compatilbility.
