Letting vCenter manage the VMs or manage the VMs ourselves is better?

What are the advantages in letting vCenter server manage the VMs?

Your opinion are welcome.

Assuming we have the DRS, HA & FT enabled, but there are some members in our team like to move "migrate" the VMs manually to each Host.

Will this affect the performance of entire VMware?

If I want to set DRS, HA & FT. Should I have 3 or 4 Hosts of ESX/ESXi? is the 4th host too much (overkill)?

meaning a manual vMotion?  It should have minimal impact of the envornment.  A vMotion is just a move of the active memory of the guest from one host to the other.

That depends.. We know nothing of your enviornment.
