LUN missing on Summary tab

Aloha,

I have a LUN (LUN5) that on 3 of 4 ESX Hosts do not appear on the summary tab anymore, but shows in the detail pane of Storage Adapters. I rescanned, restarted management services on hosts and restarted the VCenter service on my VCenter server.

VCenter is at 4.1 U1. The three problem hosts are ESX 3.5 U4 and the one that is ok is at ESX 4.1 U1 (ESX3)  (and yes, I have reasons for staying with ESX for now). This seemed to happen when I added a 75gb extent to LUN5 while on ESX3.

Any help is appreciated.

Bill

Can you give more info of the type of storage? It is iSCSI? If yes, the ESX 3.x host have a service console in the iSCSI network?

It's iSCSI and service consoles exist. All was fine before adding the extent.

IMHO: do not use extent Smiley Happy

Have a look at the last message in this thread: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1741038#1741038

iscsi is one of those things that has been significantly improved in esx 4.X in 3.5 it was  bit pockey...

your best option is not to use extents..

have you tried the following though?

1 disable swiscsi initiator...

2 do full rescan

3: enable it again

hoping that might help see the new vmfs volume properly.. no guarantees though..
