When trying to perform a new installation of the vcenter applications, the following error occures
Warning 25098, Setup has detected that the VirtualCenter Service is not running on this system. Please wait for the service to start and then try installing VMware Update Manager again.
The Service does not start due to it installs as a local service, after going into the service and changing it to a network service it starts and I am able to connect to the vCenter ip.
However when I go back to install the VMware Update I come to the step2 (VMware update manager deployment Options - Step2)
It gives me the error "Invalid HTTP port number or TCP/IP port is already in use. It must be in the 1-65535 range."
I am assuming that this is due to the fact that the website for vCenter is already using those ports. I have tried using port 9000 and 9001 for http and https respectivly however then in my console I get errors when I try to install the update plugin. and it states that the website for my updater can not be found.
Any ideas, I have uninstalled and reinstalled vCenter 5 times today, and it is always the same issue
are you instaling version 4.1 or 4.0? if its 4.1 then you need a 64 bit OS and it will not install on x86
it is the 2.5 version for ESX 3.5
actually it seems to be trying to install vmware update manager first.
suggest you only install vcenter then install the other options after its up and running.
There are some threads in the forum with error 25098 pointing to a localization issue. What's the language of the Windows OS and what locals (e.g. date/time formats) did you configure? see e.g. http://communities.vmware.com/message/881077

Hi,
The latest version of vSphere requires a 64bit OS and 2 CPUs.
You're installing on an x86 server, so your installation will fail.
