Hello VMware Community!
Issue:
I am having an issue with SQL connectivity in my application. I am getting a general time out error message from the virtual server that was deployed from a Template/Clone. Weird thing is; we can telnet to the sql server on 1433 and see it keep open the connection; however when the application we use tries to connect we get a timeout error 8/10 times.
My questions:
1.) Have any of you ever had any issues with a server that was deployed from either a template or cloned.
2.) are there any tools that you know of that will help troubleshoot this issue; basically the connections between the sql server and the virtual servers.
My workaround:
I have been adding VM's from scratch to my vsphere install. This is very lengthy and takes time.
Any help is appreicated.
Thanks,
sype
Did you perform a sysprep?
Also SQL server was in the template?
If yes I suggest to install it after the template has been deployed and customized.

i looked at this and this seems to be only for windows xp machines. I was deploying servers from a template. Server 2008 x64.
Andre,
the sql server is an actual physical server, that the Virtual servers connect to. I just wouldn't see why deploying the VM from a template would cause such an issue. I do believe its something in the networking part of the VM however, after doing telnets and doing a packet capture, I cant determine that there is an issue from a Logical OSI model. But there is definitely a issue with the template and clone creation feature.
