Issue during installation

Hi, I have a problem when I try to install vCenter server. I created domain controller and I added second server to domain. During installation I receive error message: This computer is a member of a domain but no logon servers can be found.

Any ideas what should I do?

Kind regards,

Pawel

This matter might be an Active Directory / DNS problem with your user accounts being set. Are your group policies set properly? Do you have any restrictions in place for the specific accounts/domain? Can your machine ping each other? Also read this post and this one http://communities.vmware.com/thread/201649

Reconnecting domain seems to resolve this problem but I have got another issue now. Half way through installation I received error message: Setup cannot create vCenter Directory Services instance. Refer to: jointool-0.log for more details. Click Yes for force installation.

I tried to find jointool-0.log to check what this is about but file don;t exist on my HDD. Any ideas what this issue is about?

Your solution should lie in this post http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=101382... which appearently requires you to do the following task : "Active Directory

Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) server role on Windows Server

2008 must either be enabled or completely removed before installing

vCenter Server 4.x."

In short my guess is that your active directory was compromised by the current exisiting domain installations.
