Is Vcenter Server compatible with ESX 3.5 Hosts? (mixed mode environment?)

We are running Virtual Center 2.5 and want to know if we upgrade it, can we still support the ESX 3.5 Servers?

Yes. You will be able to manage all 3.5 hosts after upgrade to vCenter 4.0.

After upgrade you will see that all the hosts reconnected automatically.

an ESX(i) can only be managed by a single vCenter instance. Also,

ESX(i)4 can only be managed by vCenter4, but vCenter4 can manage your

VI3 Hosts.

Don't remove your licensing server from 2.5 before you upgraded all your ESX servers to 4.0.
