Installing vCenter 4 on Windows 2008 Storage Server?

I am trying to install vCenter on a Dell PowerVault NX3000 running Win2k8 Storage server and am getting an error regaridng an inability to create the vCenter Server Directory Service Instance.

Does anyone know if it is supported on Win2k8 Storage Server or should I just call VMWare technical support?

Thanks in advance!

Bill

Bill,

I don't think Storage Server or Datacenter is supported for Windows 2008 as a deployment platform for vCenter itself.

I'm just looking for a reference that would clarify this.

Datacenter is supported, but Storage Server is completely absent (as is home server).

Best Regards,

Why are you trying to install it on Storage Server?  Is isn't supported, so I doubt VMware would be able to provide much more support then telling you to use a supported OS.

You could go to manage roles and attempt to add "Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services" and see if that helps out.
