Independent / Persistent disk question

Hi all,

I need to undo the independent / persistent disk attribute on some VMs so we can run the Symantec Backup Exec for the .vmdk.

My question is: is there any impact to the Windows disks themselves from a shutdown/ edit settings of the VM / reboot?  Or is this attribute only in relationship to VMware VM management?

Well, changing the independent attribute will affect wether snapshots are taken or not. Changing a disk to non-persistent will cause the disk to discard changes on reebot which might not be what you want. But changing it from independent-persistent to persistend should not cause any harm to the OS or changes in behavior.
