In vcenter 5.1, I am unable to clone a virtual machine into template and store in the shared data store?

Dear all,

In vcenter 5.1, Whenever I am cloning a virtual machine into template and try to store it in shared datastore, I am encountering an error "Unable to access file "shared vms." but when I am storing the template in local datastore, I have no problems at all. Please find attached image. Please tell me why this happens and what is the resolution for this?

First clone it and then make it to template. But this is not the right way of virtual image creation.

Yup beckham i did the same way, but donno why I am getting that error,

while cloning don't edit the settings for the vm, only select the datastore and host. Are you editing it while cloning? sometime it gives error due to editing.

I got it beckham, actually in that VM, I had attached an ISO image in CD drive, once i removed that, it worked fine.  Anyways thanks
