In Place Upgrade of vCenter 4.0 to 4.1 - agent install

Hi there,

I plan to upgrade my vCenter Server 4.0 to 4.1 in place. I have ESXi 4.0 and ESXi 3.5 hosts attached.

QUESTION: when the installer upgrades the ESX Agent on each ESX Server, is there any host outage? IE, does the host get rebooted or does it need a reboot afterwards?

Thanks in advance!

no down time is required, when you readd/reconnect the agent will be upgraded. just make sure vmotion and ha works there after. good luck.

The agents should update automatically after the vCenter upgrade.  The host may be in the non responding site until it reconnects with the new agent.  There was no downtime associated with my upgrade.
