IPv6 vmknic gateway configuration doesn't match the specification

When taking a host profile and applying the same profile back to the same host and when I check compliance I get this error:

Setting Name,Host Value,Host Profile Value,Description

,,,IPv6 vmknic gateway configuration doesn't match the specification

I deployed 19 ESXi 6.5U1 today and I am getting exactly the same error on my host profile. IPv6 is disabled across all hosts and I am not sure how to find where the problem could be.

Hi,

I've found a way around this (for those of us with IPv6 disabled..

Log on to vSphere Webclient using administrator@vsphere.local

Edit Host profile

Go to: Network configuration > Host Virtual NIC > *your management NIC* > IP address settings

Change the "Vnic Default gateway for IPv6 routing" from choose a default IPv6 gateway for vmknic to User must explicitly choose the policy option

Then

Go to: Network configuration > NetStack Instance > defaultTcpipStack > IP route configuration

Change the settings for IPv6 routing and route gateway to User must explicitly choose the policy option

Click Finish

Host profile will be updated.

Once complete

Rescan your host for compliance.

This worked for my setup (vSphere 6.5, esxi 6.5) where I created a profile from a host which then wasn't compliant against it's own profile because of the IPv6 stuff in the profile..

Smart that one!!!

Hope that helps.
