Hi,
This is a very minor issue that has been bugging me for a while now. All our VMs have two NICs one for Primary LAN and the other for Backup LAN but the IP address for the backup LAN always shows up in VC rather than the primary LAN.
I've tried changing the name of the primary LAN within windows so that it is alphabetically first ahead of backup, no joy.
I've tried ensuring that NIC1 is the primary LAN and not the backup but all to no avail.
Please can someone advise where ESX / VC gets this information from? Is it simply that it takes the lowest IP address the machine has because our backup lan is segment numerically before the data one? eg. If backup is 10.1.1.0 and data is 10.1.2.0 it will display backup and vice versa?
Thanks in anticipation
Dave
This is a quirk with the VI client. It may eventually get fixed.
