I can not see IP address of VM and DNS name of VM in Vcenter List

Hi,

If I select a ESX host in Vcenter and and then click on virtual machines tabs I can see IP and DNS details of some VMs (Linux and Windows) some are powered on and some are shutdown . But there are some VM(Linux and windows) which are powered on , and for those vms i can not see their IP and DNS Name details.

Any suggestion? DO i need further configuration of Vcenter or vms?

Regards

you could also try restarting the management agents of the ESX(i) Host(s) where the information is not being populated. Restarting the management agents should refresh your vCenter inventory view for the affected Host(s) guest(s)

As mentioned by idle-jam you need to install VMware Tools in the virtual machine. If VMware Tools are installed and you still cannot see the IP/DNS information in the summery tab, you may have configured isolation settings in the VM's configuration file (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1013371)

I have installed Vmware tools within VM. isolation settings in the VM's configuration file has been set to false.

But I am just discussing with colleague to restart management agents on ESX host suggested by Troy.

Many Thanks
