Is there a way of sending the hardware status by email or any other form if there is an issue. The same which can be seen by selecting a host and then selecting the hardware status tab and it tells you whether there are any hardware issues.
You can get some good default alarms in vCenter. From there you can configure your triggers and actions. Also, if you have HP hardware and ESXi, you can install the offline bundle, then utilize SNMP and SIM if you have it.
