How to remove host from cluster without vCenter

Hi,
a customer has a vSphere 5.0 U1 cluster with 2 host ESXi 5.0 U1.

The vCenter virtual machine is corrupt and there is no way to restore it (no backup available Smiley Sad ).
Now I'm installing a new vCenter, how can I remove hosts from the old cluster?

thanks
Andrea

Hi,

if vCenter is offline, I would try to add the hosts to the new vCenter. I'm pretty sure it will connect.

Spin up the new vcenter instance and add the hosts.

thank you

last question, can I use the old name for vCenter, datacenter and cluster or will this create problems?

You should be able to use the old names for the Datacenter and Cluster. I don;t see a problem with that.

There is no issue whatsoever. The new vcenter will have a new DB and all new values. No conflict.

Be sure you back this one up Smiley Happy
