How to remediate a ESXi 7.0 host that has a local vCenter VM on it?

Hello,

I have a single ESXi 7.0 host which has a vCenter VM on its local storage.

I'm trying to remediate the host but since the vCenter VM is locally ran on this host, remediation stops at "waiting for VMs to power off". 

What would be the best way to do this?

Available to me are : a separate network storage, and another host running 6.7 free license (so it can't be added to my vCenter)

Try connecting to the web gui of the ESX host itself at https://<esx-ipaddress> and try in there. You aren’t reliant on the vCentet VM then.

Thank you for the answer, but I cannot find anywhere on the host's web GUI, a place to remediate the host... everything I find on the web points to vCenter server...

Maybe this then: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2008939“esxcli software vib” commands to patch an ESXi 6.x/7.x host ...

Patch it from commandline. Good luck if you give it a go! 😄

The command line option is really the only way if you can't move the vcenter server to another host.
