How to migrate without vcenter?!

Hello,

i have here two ESX 4 Server with one vcenter2, with HA

If all ESX and the vcenter are running i can migrate from one server to another. Works fine. The vcenter is runing on ESX1

But if ESX1 is down and vcenter was not running (why ever....), HA doesn´t migrate it automatically... how can i migrate this from ESX1 (down) to ESX2 (running)?

thanks for your help

Andreas

See:

Basically you have to register VC VM on another ESX and power-on the VM (and say that you have moved the files to keep UUID and MAC address of the VM).

HA should restart the vCenter VM on the other host in the cluster, if there is a hardware failure of our host. But DRS will not work since it's vCenter is down.

Your vCenter Server is down?

HA is configured properly ? Does it work if ESX2 is down ?

PS: Are you using IP range specified in this KB ?
