I am the ESX admin and will have to migrate over 200 VMs to a new, not vMotion compatible ESXi 5.1 cluster. There are a lot of VM admins who are responsible for this VMs (and they are not allowed to migrate). So you can imagine: it will need a lot of time to ask all VM admins for each VM when they can PowerOff their VMs (and they have to ask all their users in a 24/7 company, it is a big hospital) so that I can migrate to the new cluster an PowerOn again ...
My question is: is there any possibility (over vCenter Server 5.1 or PowerCLI or something else) to tell the VMs that they shall migrate to the new cluster as soon as the VM is PowerOff (so that I don't have to be present when the VM admins do PowerOff)? Or is there a possibility to allow the VM admins for some time to migrate to the new cluster (and only this and nothing else)?
