How to add ESXi 8 to vCenter 7?

Hi all,

I saw there are only vSphere 8 on website can be purchased now. My vCenter is 7.0 standard and not plan to upgrade.

Can I add a ESXi 8.0 to vCenter 7.0?

vCenter Server 7.x can only manage hosts up to and including ESXi 7.x: https://interopmatrix.vmware.com/Interoperability?col=2,5559&row=1,&isHideGenSupported=false&isHideT...

If you don't want to upgrade your vCenter Server to 8.0, you could buy a vSphere 8.0 licence, downgrade it to a 7.x key, and install ESXi 7.x instead: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/81665

Thank you so much. @scott28tt

If I wanna redo the upgrade from 7.x back to 8 in the future, do I need keep Support and Subscription contract is current and active? And are steps same as normal upgrade in the KB you sent?
