Help with vCenter Server 4.1 install

I don't have a processor that supports VT for ESX so I can't install vCenter since it requires x64. However, my laptop is x64 and does support VT. Would it be ok to install vCenter using free VMware Server? If so, are there any cons?

I have started studying for the vcp exam and i want to download vcenter to my laptop which is running xp pro 64bit, my laptop has not vt tevhnolgy support.i presume esxi will download fine and run it through vsphere client, is vt technology a prerequiste for vcenter to work?
