Help setting up vmkernel for vmotion

Hi, Some help please on setting up dedicated vmkernel ports on 2 esx hosts......I would like to setup/configure dedicated vmkernal ports on both esx hosts, currently I have 2 dell switches 2 dell esx servers and a md3000i........

Can someone clarify if what I am saying is correct please, I created a vmkernel port on both esx hosts and assigned the ip addres of 192.168.0.1 & 2, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.0.254 then I created a vlan on both switches, vlan10 tagging 2 ports on each server, I connected the physical nics from each esx host to vlan10...... Is this correct ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Could be correct.

But if you play with VLAN you have also to define the same ID on the switches, and use dedicated NIC (and port on pswitch in tagged mode) or shared NIC (and port on pswitch on trunk mode).

You can start without VLAN, test and use VMotion, and then if you need to "separate" your network introduce VLAN.

test:

1- set a gateway in vmotion

2- set native vlan (vmotion network). in you switch.
