Have you seen this error when trying a DMotion?

No trace of this anywhere, do I get a T-shirt for it being a new error?

vim.fault.InvalidDeviceSpec

check it out Smiley Happy

Do you have any floppy or CD-ROMs attached (but not necessarily connected) in the source VM?

I've seen this error, if you look through the vmware.log & vpxa.log, you'll notice that the vmotion process is having trouble reading the vmx file on the host. I have an SR open with VMware, but no solution.

My workaround is to use cold migration instead of vmotion.

If I had to guess, I would say it's some kind of extra device in the VM config. Maybe a USB, COM port, or Generic SCSI, from a P2V???

I've had it crop up during a cold migration for some guests created under 2.0.

I made sure I had a ready copy of the .vmx files and then unregistered the VMs.

I then removed the .vmx files and removed directories for these machines under

/home/vmware on all hosts.

Then re-added the machines through the MUI and was able to cold migrate

without further issue.
