HP VMM VS the VMWare Virtual Server Center

HI friends,

Can the HP VMM replace the Vmware virtual Server center?

From my point, the HP VMM in the SIM just implements the VI client funtions which can just manage the single Host.

Am I right?

For some functions it can replace the VI Client, but it cannot replace Virtual Center. There is no vMotion/DRS/HA function without Virtual Center. VMM cannot access those functions without Virtual Center, since it provides the APIs into those functions.

HP VMM is a complementery solution and some features are dependet on VC. (like vmotion)

The V2P (Virtual 2 Proliant) is unique and is something we dont have.

I've also found that the P2V using HP's VMM does a better of virtualising HP Servers that have all of the Agents and associated drivers installed. The HP server I virtualised using the new VMware Convertor worked but had a number of failed to start services etc.

If you're a using of HPSIM then you get a single view of the infrastructure plus additional reporting benefits.
