HA cluster Profile, FT error, Flash Copy

Hi,

(Please check the attached images) When I tried Compliance ceck on my HA it failed and error show unabale to connect. Then I tried to attach the profile to cluster option there the license error came, my question is whether the ESX4 Enterprise license doesnot include this license or feature support. What exactly this profile feature works.....????

I have enabled Fault Tolerance on few VM's which I newly created but the existing VM's which donot have the logical disk enabled to support FT how to configure them to support FT or you can say after migrating P2V how to enable FT for the migrated VM's????

My last concern is has any one enabled Flash Copy on DS4700 for the ESX logical volume, does it support Flash Copy or any issue may occur if I configure it.

but can you pls tell me whether should I use three different VMFS3 of 700Gb volumes for three hosts or two 1TB volumes or one 2TB volume for around 18 VM and 3 VSP host.

The LUN design "problem" is very common.

I suggest to use 700 GB volumes to split the I/O on different volume.

But also this choice could depend by your storage, check if there is some best practice about it.

What exactly the profile thing works for...I have Enterprise license I wont be able to use it?

No... You need Enterprise Plus... or evalutation mode...

whether the Backup feature is available with it??

Yes, both VCB and VDR.

Hi any one pls come on the above.

Another thing which I'm facing, has any body used 2TB or larger single volume as VMFS for ESX4 with VC4. I tried to acces 2TB volume but while Adding it to storage option it gives error.

Whether it will help in any term if I use two 1TB volumes instead of using one 2TB volume......

Thanks for your reply in advance..................................................................

For Host Profile you need Enterprise Plus license.

For FT you need to have disk in eagerzeroedthick format - See .

First converter to thick format (with SVMotion).

Then power-off the VM and enable FT, when is ready (it can take a lot of time if disks are big) power on the VM.

In vSphere the disks must be smaller than 2 TB - 512 B.

PS: use different thread for different problem Smiley Wink
