Hello,
We have 4 ESX 2.5.4 hosts running with VC 1.4.1. We made a fresh install of VC 2.0.1 and we want to transfert the ESX 2.5.4 hosts from VC 1.4.1 to VC 2.0.1.
The question is :
When transferring a host from VC 1.4.1 to VC 2.0.1 a new service is started on a the ESX Server which is mgmt-vmware but what happens with the vmware-serverd daemon ?
Thank you
Dominic
Oops I think it is vmware-vpxa that is the Virtual Center management agent not mgmt-vmware \!!!
mgmt-vmware is only on ESX3, vmware-serverd still runs with VC2 for ESX 2.5.3+ servers in addition to vmware-vpxa
fyi...if you find this post helpful, please award points using the Helpful/Correct buttons...thanks
vmware-vpxa is also running on ESX3 hosts attached to VC 2. So what is the difference between vmware-vpxa and mgmt-vmware ?
They are the 2 management components that VC uses in ESX 3, mgmt-vmware replaces vmware-serverd.
vmware-vpxa is also running on ESX3 hosts attached to
VC 2. So what is the difference between vmware-vpxa
and mgmt-vmware ?
vmware-vpxa[/b] is the name of the VirtualCenter server agent that runs in the service console of ESX 3.x servers (it used to be vmware-ccagent in ESX 2.x). The vmware-vpxa daemon can be stopped, started or restarted with the command:
service vmware-vpxa restart
So what does mgmt-vmware do?
