Error ORA-01461 after migrating VC from 2.0.1 to 2.5

Hi !

We had a strange behaviour with our VirtualCenter 2.5 under Oracle 10.2.0.3.0.

One physical node was not connectible after a planned power shutdown on last friday.

Monday morning, we tried to restart one of its virtual machine and here the log:

-- BEGIN task-1064 -- datacenter-24 -- vim.Datacenter.powerOnVm -- 440E1D0C-E075-4D2E-BBBF-C675DAD3BD19

-- FINISH task-1064 -- datacenter-24 -- vim.Datacenter.powerOnVm -- 440E1D0C-E075-4D2E-BBBF-C675DAD3BD19

Unable to recover from HY000:1461

An unrecoverable problem has occurred, stopping the VMware VirtualCenter service. Check database connectivity before restarting. Error: Error[VdbODBCError] (-1) "ODBC error: (HY000) - [ODBC][Ora]ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column

" is returned when executing SQL statement "UPDATE VPX_TASK SET DESCRIPTIONID = ? , ENTITY_ID = ? , ENTITY_TYPE = ? , ENTITY_NAME = ? , LOCKED_DATA = ? , COMPLETE_STATE = ? , CANCELLED = ? , CANCELLABLE = ? , ERROR_DATA = ? , RESULT_DATA = ? , REASON_DATA = ? , QUEUE_TIME = ? , START_TIME = ? , EVENT_CHAIN_ID = ? WHERE TASK_ID = ?"

Forcing shutdown of VMware VirtualCenter now

We migrated from VC 2.0.1 to 2.5 by upgrading the oracle Schema with the VMWARE procedures and tools...

This was done 10 days ago.

We actually "hope" this will not reproduce but as support team, we tried to "understand" what happenned to have a correct diagnostic and get confifdent with our VirtualCenter 2.5 wich manager most of our client systems.

Any idea ?

Regards,

G.
