Equallogic Host Integration Toolkit

I have an equallogic array (PS Series) and am looking at setting up the Equallogic Host Integration Toolkit. I wanted to ask around before I did it and see what others have to say.

  • What is needed to setup/config it?

  • What do you use it for?

  • Anything to watchout for?

Here is what I am specifically looking for :

  • When I create a snapshot in vCenter I would like for it to utilize the snapshot capabilties on my array, rather than manage the snapshot itself. Is that possible? Do you use that feature?

  • Also, we would like to have the ability to restore individual items from exchange, sql, sharepoint, etc. without the need of an agent within the os. Does anyone use this feature?

I'm actually getting ready to do the same thing.  On Dell's EqualLogic Support Site under documentation, you can download the installation and user guide.  I'm getting ready to read that myself...maybe it'll provide the insight we're looking for.
