Editing .vmx file

I have memory affinity issue mentioned in this KB article (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003842)

Is there a way to change/edit vmx file (and not loose the change) without removing the VM from inventory and adding it back again?

What about using PuTTY or ssh and vi?

Any changes made to vmx file directly will be discarded if the VM is not removed from inventory prior to editing vmx file.

I could be wrong, but I think that's only the case if the VM is running when you edit the VMX file.

If it was useful, give me credit
