ESXi and Microsoft Virtual Server 2005

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience running ESXi and MS Virtual Server 2005 simultaneously on a Windows Server 2003 machine. Any up or down sides to running both on one machine? This is an existing machine running MS Virtual Server 2005 and we want to add ESXi to it but we need to maintain VS 2005 to access the current virtual servers running on the machine...or do we? Would they be accessible through ESXi as well?

Thanks for your insight

If you are talking about running ESXi in a VM you could run it along side of MS Virtual Server 2005. Other than that, ESXi is a standalone Operating System an takes over the server.

What you could do is backup the VS2005 images then run them through the VMware converter application (standalone) after you have installed ESXi on the server. or you could run VMware Server 2.0 along side VS2005 on top of Windows.

Welcome to the forums - as the other poster pointed out ESXi would replace WIndows as the O/S so you would not be able to run them side by side on the same hardware -
