We upgraded our esxi host and san hardware a while ago, so we're using the old hardware as a test cluster in the same vCenter as our production hosts. We're paying annual renewals for the newer hardware but not the old ones, but the old hosts both say "License Expiration: Never" under Configure>System>Licensing." Are we allowed to continue updating the hosts with security patches, etc for as long as they're running 6.7? I understand that we can't get any tech support from VMware. If we aren't allowed to apply patches, I'll probably need to take those hosts down.
Thanks.
ETA: If there's a more appropriate area than vCenter for this discussion, I can repost if needed.
You can have updates and patchs related to the product (bugs, security and so on) and generic vibs...
obviously in the custom isos of the vendor you will no longer find support on the vibs
hi
Vsphere licenses are tied to the product and not to the hardware.
VMware support will be provided on the product.
it is obvious that if the hardware is in EOL, everything related to the hardware and its updates are no longer supported
Thanks. Sorry to be thick, but if I understand correctly, you're saying that I can't get hardware related updates from the vendor (which I understand), but I can still get the ESXi patches. Is that correct?

OK, thanks for the info.
