ESXi 6.7 host license divide

Hi...

Found  Kb 81616 on how to divide a license. We have a 24 capacity CPU license but using only 18 currently.

we have request to extract the 6 remaining and create a new key, effectively creating a new license with 6 CPU socket.

I guess I follow the Kb, but does the license that those 6 sockets come from reduce to show 18 eventually in the vCentre?

Im curious  to know how the vCentre will understand that a license has been divided and reduced.

Merging, dividing, upgrading and/or downgrading licenses in the VMware portal will result in new license keys with the appropriate capacities.
What you need to do after one of the mentioned operations, is to assign the new license key to your assets, and then remove the "old" license key to be compliant.
