Disabling SSH configuration issues warning on the Summary tab in ESXi 4.1 and 5.0 is it a Good Practice

Hi All,

The Movment we enabled SSH on ESXi 4.0 or ESXi 5.0 we observe the warning icon on esx/esxi host and on teh Summary tab we see message

ESXi shell for the host has been enabled

SSH for the host has been enabled

esx ssh.png

See above.

I came access KB article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=200792...   to disable warning icon message from VMware

My query is , is it a Good Practice to suppress such warning message , does it effect esx/esxi host..

Supressing those messages won't impact anything else. It really comes down to who is monitoring and maybe what security policies are in place. The problem I see is that if the warning state is always there, then someone may not look or notice any new warnings. It will probably come down to finding a balnace between convenience and security. I personally just leave the ESXi Shell and SSH disabled and turn them on if/when absolutely required.

If the warning alarm is in enabled status we cannot give importance if we get real warning message.

So i am gonna suppress the warning alerts Smiley Happy
