“Details: The server took too long to respond. (The operation has timed out)”

I am getting this error when I try to connect to one host. I have

verified that DNS is set up correctly. I can ping to and from the host

but cannot connect the Virtual Infrastructure Client. I tried

restarting the Virtual Center service and that didn't work. I restarted

the mgmt-vmware service on the host and this didn't help either.

Hi,

It seems like your hostd process is in trouble, kill the hostd process and start mgmt-vmware service.

I hope this solves your problem.

Can you connect directly to the Host with VIClient?

Kind Regards,

Gerrit Lehr

If your connecting via IP address then DNS doesn't really come into it. Seem to remember something about the /tmp/vmware-root directory needing to be present give that a check

Thanks,

Neil

Thanks, Neil

Did you check if the /tmp/vmware-root exists on the ESX host?

Thanks,

Neil
