Deploy VM with the same name

Hi everyone

I use VirtualCenter 1.4.1 with ESX 2.54.

I need to deploy many VM from a template, but I realized that I forgot something in my template. Hopefully I saw my mistake at the first VM deployment.

I reconfigured my template and now I whish to deploy from this corrected template.

I deleted my first "corrupted" VM and then I tried to deploy it again with the same name . I works but the vm name now has 1 at the end (original name was for example myvm and after the second deploy it is myvm1)

I tried to deploy again, and the name is now myvm_2...

I guess VirtualCenter keeps the name when you delete a vm and then increments a counter.

Can someone know how to reset this counter ?

Thanks

when you delete it from vc are you also deleting the files? Check the location of your .vmx files to see if you have multiple copies

Reboot the host - I haven't figured out how to flush what is cached even after deleting the files/folders. Reboot the host and then create new vm - "-#" will not appear then.

Thanks for your help

unfortunatly my host is a huge production server, and I can't reboot it when I want.

I will check it out after next reboot

Thanks
