Datastore sizes keep changing

So we have a datastore that is 1.43 Terabytes. We grew it by 100 gig and then rescaned our HBAs. It showed 106 gig free. Then a few hours later, it shows the old size of 6 gig free. If we rescan the VMFS, it shows 106 gig free agian in VC but keeps reverting. Any ideas?

I would restart the hostd process by running the command service mgmt-vmware restart form the Service Console as root - this will resynch the communication with the VMware Virtual Center service -

How did you grow the datastore?

Did you grow the LUN on a SAN or Raid array directly because that would not be supported.

1.4 TB is too large for a single LUN unless you have very large vmdk's.

When more that 15-20 VMs run on a single LUN SCSI reservation conflicts can occur more frequenlty and would cause poor performance.
