I have a VM that I migrated onto a SAN LUN (from an different on on the same SAN), and changed the disk format to "thin provisioned" as it migrated. Browsing the datastore from vCenter Datastore Browser shows the vmdk file as being 10G (it was 50G before migration).
Logging into the esx host using WinSCP, and navigating to the same LUN, in the VM folder I see a 50G .vmdk file and the name has the -flat ending that a thick vmdk file has. How can the vCenter datastore browser show a thin provisioned file, and WinSCP show a thick one 5x the size?
