DPM

Is it possible backup VMWare ESX hots with MIcrosoft DPM (I mean not to backup data but rather snapshot it like VDR does)?

Thanks.

Elijah.

You can use DPM to backup but it can't be used to backup your guests the way you want it to, meaning DPM cannot create the snaphsot on the guest.

why backup ESX? To restore, if your lucky would take a lot longer than a rebuild

However, the only backup and restore method I am aware of for ESX is listed below

Troy, the question was about backing up virtual machines with DPM. Sorry, my bad, it was a typo.

I'm quirious if you can back it up with DPM - the same way you do it with VDR by employing snapshots.

Thanks.
