Create cluster with existing Virtual Machines

This is going to seem like an easy question but I have 3 ESXi 5.0 hosts managed by vCenter. We recently purchased a SAN and I would like to setup a cluster, can I do this with existing virtual machines running on the hosts and then migrate them to the SAN after I create the cluster?

If the hosts and the BIOS settings are the same there shouldn't be an issue with moving them into a cluster. Moving the VM's to the SAN can be done as soon as the hosts are connected to it, it doesn't depend on the cluster membership.

Thanks for your reply. Just to confirm once I put the hosts into a cluster I will still have access to local datastores on the physical hosts?

Yes, of course the hosts will continue to have access to their local datastores.
