Could not connect to one or more vCenter Server systems. Came in today and have no access.

I came in today and have no access no to the vCenter Host with my normal Windows Authentication, though I can login with my Windows creds. just fine. I can login to the IP of ESXi with root and password, but not with the vSphere Client nor Web Client.

Any ideas?

Web Client I get this.....

Could not connect to one or more vCenter Server systems:

https://NNN.vCenter.local:443/sdk

vSphere Cleint gives me this.....

What is the version of VCenter . What happens if we try login to the host from remote location .

vCenter 5.1

I have the server setup for remote access and the same credentials into that side work, now the vSphere nor Web Client work with the same credentials. Don't get it.

Did you try logging in with admin@system-domain to the webclient ? If yes, check for the identity sources

I can login with admin@system-domain, yes. "check for the identity sources?"   not sure what that is.

Do you see your domain listed in Identity sources ?

  1. Log in to the vSphere Web Client as the Single Sign-On administrator.
  2. From Administration, select Sign-on and Discovery, then click Configuration.
  3. On the Identity Sources tab, search for your Active Directory domain in the list.

If Single Sign-On discovered the Active Directory domain without the need to manually add it, the Active Directory domain will appear in the list.

This is just a server, no AD and no I can't see anything as it doesn't connect to the Host. That's where the error comes from in the original post.

Can you RDP to the vcenter server ? Can you try to restart the vcenter service and see if that gives a go

lauch  vsphere client inside the vcenter server. Try to use the IP of the vcenter and provide the credentials and see if that works.

Also check for the vpxd logs for any errors

Tried vSphere Client and the IP and manually typing the cred's in but didn't work. That is the other error above.

Where are these log files?

I suspect this could be an issue with SSL, refer to this KB

JD: the fix was to run the vCenter Server installation, which removed it. Then re-installed vCenter Server. I was afraid to do this without knowing for sure I would lose any VM configurations, which I did not.

I know it's an old thread, since I faced same issue and resolved it with restarting the following service on the vCenter server:

VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices.

Good luck
