So after some tribulations I figured out how to connect to port 443 on vCenter and start working from there. But I need to review cores, ram and disk used by vCenter. So I tried logging in to the ESXi where vCenter is installed but I am not allowed to.
I can handle all other virtual machines fine in vCenter, just not vCenter it self. AFAIK.
What controls that access?
For clarification, trying to get back in here:
Tried all possible variations of login I can think of. Included the vCenter creds.
If your browser is pointed at your vCenter Server, you need to login using an account for the vCenter Server.
When your browser is pointed at your ESXi host, you login with an account for the ESXi host.
Those 2 sets of credentials are not the same.
I know that. it is kinda obvious, do you not think? 🤔
But ESXi is not allowing to logon using the credentials I had before even installing the vCenter.
I have tried root with and without domain.
I have tried administrator with and without domain.
I have tried root with and without computer name
I have tried administrator with or without computer name.
ILO tells me this:
so the network access is there.
This login works:
I have verified I have the correct credentials.
So why is the WEB interface not letting me in?
Found it.
It was in LOCKDOWN MODE ENABLED.
How the hell... ah well.
Upgrade complete
It wasn't obvious to me from your post and comment that you knew the difference, I was just trying to help.
Glad you got it sorted.
