Configuring Single Sign on Server in vSphere 5.1

If you attempt to assign vCenter Server's Single Sign on Server in 5.1 an IP address instead of an FQDN, you get a warning that it is not recommended.  Other than being able to connect to the SSO server by hostname, and maintain connection in the event that it's IP address is changed, what are the issues with having an IP addressed rather than a hostname?  Do I want to create a dependency on DNS here?
