Combine two vCenter Standard licenses for linked mode

I have two vCenter standard licenses, one with a single instance and the other with two instances capacity.

Can I link total three vCenter servers together, or I have to have a combined license with three instances?

so you have 3 vCenter Standard licenses.  You can use 3 standalone, link 3, link 2...etc.  As long as you don't install more than 3 instances.
