Cloning Windows 2003 64Bit R2

When running "Deploy a VM from a Template" on a Windows 2003 64 bit R2 template I get the message "Customization is not supported for the Guest operating system"

Windows 2003 32bit deploys ok.

What's VMware's best practice solution to get round this, eg (newsid, etc)

I followed some of the suggestions in this post on SysPrep for x64. I have my resealed my x64 templates, so when they deploy they run SysPrep and are now ready for Production. Unfortunately you do not get the ease of customization that you would through the VC customization specification process, but the resultant vm is sysprepped and ready to go.
