Changing Virtual Center IP address

Hi,

We need to migrate our Virtual Center (2.5) server to a new IP range, while keeping the ESX Enterprise temporarily on the old range. Will it just be a case of changing the IP and it will still work, or will this break the relationships with the other servers it manages?

Thanks

Hey,

Disconnect host from VC and re-add.

Check this article:

Thanks. So i'd disconnect the hosts, move the server/change IP, then reconnect? And this can be done while the VMs are live?

What about the clusters/datacenters etc? Do they need to be broken then re-set up?

Disconnecting a host from your vcenter does not affect your VMs running on it.

Change the IP, disconnect host and add it again. You'll get a message stating that

your host is already managed by another vcenter instance, which is really refering to your

old IP. Just agree. Do the next one and so on

It should not affect your other configurations
