Changed ip address of VC machine - now it won't start.

Our network group made us change the ip address of our virtual center machine. Now the Virtual Center Server service will not start. Is there some place that the address has to be changed in the registry or a ini file or something?

Help!

Thanks

Ken

Seems that there is another web service installed on port 80. Is IIS installed on that machine that is listening on port 80?

What is the error message returned? Log files (vpxd.log) can be found in c:\winnt\temp\vpx

Hiya,

I had a similar problem.

Once I swapped the IP address of the VC all my ESX servers showed up as disconnected.

In the end I swapped the IP address of the VC back to the old address temporarily.

Removed all my ESX servers from VC control.

Then amended the IP address on the VC server.

Re-added all the ESX hosts to VC again.

It was a pain - and I think(?) I lost all the historical performance data stats.

However it did work in the end...

I'm sure there's probably a better way of doing it though Smiley Happy

Sounds like vc can't find the licensing server. If the ESX hosts can't connect after the ip change on the vc server - try running "service mgmt-vmware restart" on each host (they should reconnect then).
